The village of Trepay is unusual for Mount Reims because it is planted almost entirely with chardonnay. Since the founding of his 3 hectare estate in 1998, David Leclapart has been creating the finest contemporary examples of this terroir.

The village of Trepay is unusual for Mount Reims because it is planted almost entirely with chardonnay. Since the founding of his 3 hectare estate in 1998, David Leclapart has been creating the finest contemporary examples of this terroir.



David religiously stands for biodynamic farming in Champagne, winery is certified as biodynamic since 2000. His first wine in the line-up, L'Amateur, is vinified using local yeasts in enamelled steel tanks, as he believes stainless steel lends negative energy to his wines. On the contrary, the rest of his cuvees are wholly or partly fermented in wooden barrels bought from Domaine Leflaive in Burgundy.

All David Léclapart Champagnes are produced without dosage, and all of them are usually low in sulfur.




These are very individual champagnes, marked with striking purity and elegance, as well as the colorful tension and piquant complexity inherited from Trepay's chalky soils.
