BENOIT DEHU IS CALLED THE MASTER OF MEUNIER

The Champagne house Déhu Père et Fils was founded in 1787, two years before the French Revolution. Passionate and thoughtful, Benoît Dehu represents the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic but hidden estate, located on the far western edge of the Vallee de la Marne. After a working experience at Bollinger, Benoit returned to the family business with a clear vision for the future.

" Benoit Déhu's Cuvée La Rue des Noyers - is among the most impressive vines I have ever tried. Alive, crystal champagne Cuvée La Rue des Noyers has unbelievable deepness, intensity and remarkable character. "

Antonio Galloni

In 2011, he cleared 1.70 ha of selected vines, which he processes biodynamically, 0.40 ha of which are treated with horses. From these vines, he creates a champagne from one vineyard, one vintage, one variety of champagne called "La Rue des Noyers", named after an area that was once bordered by hazelnut (Noyers) trees.

WHAT KIND OF CHAMPAGNE WILL YOU TREAT YOUR BOSS WITH?

“I love introducing people to new things and testing their thoughts on champagne. I would go for something like Benoît Dehu's "La Rue des Noyers" which (despite the lack of dosage) is winey and complex. This is a 100% organic meunier vinified in oak using trees from the neighboring forest of Fossoy.
There is no fining, no filtration. This is a paradox; a big fruity presence with ripe phenolic blends, yet very crispy, fresh and clean.”
Sarah Underdown - Writer

In the 2015 vintage, Benoit introduced two new champagnes to his arsenal: "Initiation" and "L'Orme". The Initiation is a mixture of Meunier with La Rue des Noyers and Pinot Noir from a small clay-and-sand-dominated area above the hill that Benoit planted using a massale-grown Pommard clone from Burgundy. The second addition, L'Orme, is 100% Pinot Noir from a tiny area previously planted with elms (Orme) and combines the complexity, personality and class that make Déhu Champagne so appealing and recognizing.
